Story No. 7: My Dad's Letter for my 16th Birthday

When I was 11 years old, my Dad was diagnosed with late-stage Lymphoma.  He passed away just 6 months later.  Last week was my 16th birthday.  The day after my birthday, my mom handed me a letter that said “To Phillipa, Love Dad.”  I cried before I even opened it.  With tears coming down my face, I opened the letter.  He wrote it right after his diagnosis.

To my amazing, sweet daughter on your 16th birthday.  I love you with all my heart and am watching over you right now.  I’m so proud at the amazing young woman you’ve become and can’t wait to see all your wonderful achievements.  Drive careful, don’t stay out past midnight.  Love, Dad.
